Town of the Living Dead – TV Series Review
Town of the Living Dead (2014 -)
Stars: Bryan Boylen, Gary A. Carreker, Chase Lawrence
IMDB Rating: 4.7
Plot: Town of the Living Dead is an unscripted series which follows a small Alabama town trying to complete their own independent zombie movie, Thr33 Days Dead – which has been six years in the making. Based on a town urban legend, their film centers on a group of friends trying to survive a zombie apocalypse in rural Alabama.
The intrepid and motley crew of amateur filmmakers now has a deadline to hit – if they finish their film in time, Syfy will air it as an original movie. Given it’s taken six years to make it, will getting it done in just a few weeks be achievable?
Review: As far as mockups go, this was so-so. The basis of the series is a behind the scenes look at what goes into making a film. In this instance the filmmakers have spent the last six years developing a feature film in Jasper, Alabama, and have had their own fair share of turmoils with SPX; Cast taking a break to have children; Crew issues; Dealing with a very Christian conservative town; Getting Council approvals, and of course funding.
I like a good mockup, and this series gets right in there to show the struggles of one aspiring filmy (taking from a lighthearted look), and her desire to bring a Zombie flick to the market. Town Of The Living Dead is very much like a reality show without the BS.
I would like to see more of this series, just to see how far the cast and crew go, and whether they get the funding they need. And you can bet that when Thr33 Days Dead comes out I will watch it and post a review.
Six years of dedication to making one film happen. Now that’s commitment!
Verdict: If You Film it, They Will Come!
