What We Do in the Shadows (2014) – Movie Review
Plot: Follow the lives of Viago (Taika Waititi), Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), and Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) – three flatmates who are just trying to get by and overcome life’s obstacles-like being immortal vampires who must feast on human blood. Hundreds of years old, the vampires are finding that beyond sunlight catastrophes, hitting the main artery, and not being able to get a sense of their wardrobe without a reflection-modern society has them struggling with the mundane like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming flatmate conflicts.
Quick Review: This mockumentary is about four vampires sharing a flat together. If you think that the vampire theme has reached it’s limit, you need to rethink your life 🙂
Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement lead a great cast of Kiwi actors who play a small group of bloodsuckers living in a flat together in Wellington. When a freshly turned bloodsucker starts bragging about his new-found vampire status, things start going wrong for the gang.
There is no shortage of laughs in this film. and keep watch for the hilarious confrontation between the gang of misfit vamps and the swear-wolves… err I mean werewolves lol
If you love great mockumentaries, then you will love this.
Verdict: Still a better love story than Twilight lol
Rating: 9 out of 10
