Emotional Healing

In the twilight of an Oregon summer night, the half-moon projects a mystical glow. Cool mountain air flows with the gentle sounds of cricket music. A glimmering star curtain unfurls to reveal a celestial vision of power and energy that transcends all human worry, doubt, and fear.

Tonight I am at peace, yet I still struggle with discouragement. A part of me obsesses and worries about an unsure financial future. This negative side is unforgiving, self-critical, and emotionally abusive.

At age 60, it appears overwhelming and even impossible to change the direction and course of my life. As I try out new ideas and new technology to achieve my dreams and goals, I stumble and fall. So many barriers and obstacles loom on the horizon. The prospect of giving up and throwing in the towel appears seductive.  Why not just give up?   What’s the point anyway?

I ask myself why am I trying so hard to achieve my dreams, when reality smacks of karma, suffering, powerlessness, and death?  We all know about all of those ‘bad things’ that keep happening to ‘good people’. Right?

I accept that evil and injustice exists in this world.  I know random or calculated acts of violence, painful relationships, disease and the loss of loved ones, cause untold pain and suffering.  In these moments of despair, frustration, and discouragement, my consciousness returns to the power of the half-moon.

There is darkness but the moonlight always conquers the night. Even when no moon can be seen in the sky, the moon is there.  Tonight, I choose to thrive on the Light living within all of us.

Much of life will remain a mystery. The stars above and the universe within will sustain me through predictable trials and life challenges. I choose to embrace the majesty of life made sublimely radiant by those infinite, flashing, celestial spheres.

I feel myself merging with the universe and my thoughts begin to turn toward God.  This is the place I want to be.  This is the space I want to be in.  This is where I want to live my life.  I refuse to let the negative overtake me.

I emotionally reach out toward the lights dancing in the sky and accept what is always, always true.  I am forever guided by God, and whatever happens in my life, I know Spirit will show me through.  No fears, worries or negativity can touch me when I am existing in the Love Light.

Poetically Baring My Soul
About The Author

I was born and raised in Danville, Il, a small town about 2 hours outside of Chicago. My parents, J.W. and Dizer Brown instilled values and principles of life in me at an early age. I enlisted into the Army 10 days after graduating high school and the discipline I received added to my upbringing, shaping me into the man I am today.

My love for poetry began through hip hop. I had aspired to become the greatest rapper of all time! Alongside the music, I would write little poems about anything from my surroundings, to my feelings, to my experiences. Eventually, those “little poems” turned into pieces of my life.

Poetically Baring My Soul is my very first book. It provides a testimony to the trials and tribulations I’ve faced, my growth into manhood, and expressions of my spirit, soul, and body. I wrote this book to honor God with this gift, glorify Him, and to connect with others who may share in my walk through life. I am a man of faith. I am confident that my poems will explain my purpose, provide insight, and give readers a honest look into my heart.

Seasons by Diana Jeane

In bringing you various talent, I would like to present Diana Jeane.

Diana lives in Ohio and has been writing poetry for many years.

SEASONS COME AND GO by Diana Jeane

Listening to the wind, hearing sounds whirling all around
Watching the leaves spinning and twirling dancing to the whisper of the wind
Feeling the coolness of the changes that are about to come.

Seasons come and go, some quietly unnoticed until you feel the change in the air.
Some with great introduction, with a blast of cold air.
Enmeshed in all the many changes that life has brought,
Knowing that some things will only last for a time, then will pass like the wind.

Experiencing every moment, cherishing times and places, people and faces,
Voices and tears, laughter and pleasure, all things we hold dear.
Life holds for us many seasons, many that seem similar, but oh so different as they pass us by.
Capturing those moments, the phrases, the looks, the touches, the kind gestures that makes life tolerable.

Those are the things we pull from each season that envelope us that encircles us.
One cannot plan, nor can one know what to expect,
But you can be sure that out of each season there will be moments we will hold dear like precious stones in a soft red velvety bag, with shiny golden drawstrings pulled tightly.

Russian Winter by Tanya Z

On May 16th, I had the pleasure of giving a seminar in Samara, Russia to a group of students who currently attend Samara State University.

The event took place at Art Propaganda which is in the downtown district of Samara and was organized by Irina Sh and Olga T.

I wanted to take this moment to thank Irina, Olga and everyone who attended the seminar.

One of the students I meet is Tanya Z, who is a freshman at Samara State University.

As I previously mentioned, it is not easy being a writer. Writing takes talent and inspiration. So when I do meet someone who has a passion for writing, I will always encourage that person to continue writing. Writing is a gift, and a very long road for more people than you realize. Just think where the world would be today if Greek Poet, Sappho gave in to the barrage of negative criticism.

So without further adu, I would like to present a poem titled Russian Winter by Tanya Zyuzina.

RUSSIAN WINTER

I was looking for solitude,
But the loneliness came to me.
I’m in a crowd; I’m with my friend,
But with my own heart outside me.

I’m not sitting alone,
I’m walking up by the street with my man.
Russian winter, I’m afraid to drown
Through the snow to the Hell.

Who is thinking of me in this World?
I don’t care, because I’ve got something better,
There is no stillness in my own soul-
I’m with my ambition that keeps me alive to get my lucky Way.
